Made exclusively for the Maison, the olfactory research process begins with graphic expression, a key element of any creation. A stroke set loose on paper, imagination untethered by fragrance.

This new story, like all Diptyque stories, begins on a blank sheet of paper. Feather-light, immaculate, powdery, it is an invitation, a springboard for dreams. A canvas for imagination, creation and self-expression. A space to freely share Diptyque's poetic vision of the world.

Then come the hand and the gesture. Gradually, the sheet becomes impregnated with ink and emotions. White becomes shaded with black. A story is written, a dream is drawn. To give carte blanche to your imagination is to allow yourself a time suspended, set down on paper.

THE ART OF ALIX WALINE

With the tip of her brush, Alix Waline creates abstract, delicate, and dreamlike works of art in multiple shades of black. It was only natural for the Maison to choose this ink purist to work on the design universe of L'Eau Papier.

Trained in fine arts and art history, the French artist Alix Waline composes delicate black-and-white paintings. Her work, she says, "is not about colour, but about light. Alix Waline appropriates paper and the space it offers. She works on each drawing as if on an embroidery, stitch by stitch, layer by layer. She masters techniques involving shadows, dipped paper, and ink that soaks the sheet. Through these forms and textures, Alix Waline extends an invitation to the imagination, her drawings
bringing us on adreamed journey.

Musk is a soft and airy cocoon. It is the perfume of self-expression, a signature created by Fabrice Pellegrin. Its facets shift and alter depending on the person who wears it. In so doing, it becomes a second skin. It is also a perfume of patience that reveals itself gradually, to be appreciated over time.

In L'Eau Papier, musk is the expression of a sheet of textured paper that invites creation and that progressively soaks in the ink, tinged with the imaginary.

It is delicately faceted with a steamed rice effect that brings rice papers to mind. This softness is then contrasted with luminous mimosa, symbolising the creative impulse. An accord of deep blonde woods evokes the source of paper.

Name
Papier means "Paper" in French. With this new eau de toilette, Diptyque puts the emphasis on the material - the white canvas that is paper - on which we may express the imaginary. Diptyque has encapsulated the fragrance of a sheet of paper made transcendent by the imagination that takes shape upon it.
