The Alchemy Of Senses

Baccarat Rouge 540. An enigmatic name that sounds like an evidence. It was in 2014, on the occasion of Baccarat’s 250th anniversary, that the collaboration with Maison Francis Kurkdjian saw the light. During their encounter, the secrets behind the iconic scarlet red crystal inspired the creation of this unique fragrance. In a stunning metamorphosis, clear crystal gradually fuses with 24-karat gold powder at 540 degrees Celsius (1,004°F) and turns bright red: it’s the rouge à l’or (red made of gold). That is how Baccarat Rouge 540 was born.

First released in a limited-edition series of 250 numbered crystal bottles, the mysterious and addictive sillage of Baccarat Rouge 540 quickly became an obsession. Barely a year later, the fragrance was then revealed in Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s iconic bottle and has since remained a staple of the Maison’s fragrance wardrobe, alongside fresh and floral perfumes such as Aqua Universalis and À la rose, and more intense, luscious scents such as OUD satin mood, and the Gentle Fluidity duo.

Now available as an eau de parfum, extrait de parfum and a rich variety of scented rituals, Maison Francis Kurkdjian invites to look back at the inspiration behind a creation celebrated the world over that remains inimitable.

Baccarat Rouge 540 evokes the density and transparency of crystal around its three inherent breaths: the mineral breath, the breath of fire, and the breath of know-how, as if human hands were conversing with the magic of nature. Like a true alchemy of senses, its graphic, highly condensed olfactory signature delivers floral, ambery, and woody notes inspired by crystal’s fusion process. Airy jasmine facets and intensely radiant saffron carry the mineral notes of AmbroxanTM - evoking ambergris - and the woody, lightly spiced tones of red cedar. A unique formula, a subtle and meticulous balance, a mysterious and exceptional creation that has now become an incomparable icon.
